Why Hire a Professional Dog Walker?

Not all dog walkers are created equal. While a neighborhood teen or hobbyist may be great with pets, there's a big difference when you choose someone with professional training and real-world experience. Kingston, Indianola, Hansville Dog Walker

At Bella’s Pet Care, professional means:

  • Confidently handling dogs of all sizes, personalities, and energy levels

  • Staying calm and prepared in emergencies—like loose dogs, medical concerns, or sudden behavior changes

  • Reading canine body language to avoid stress and keep everyone safe

  • Being trained (and often certified) in pet CPR and first aid

  • Carrying insurance and passing a background check

  • Showing up reliably—rain or shine, every time

A casual pet lover might mean well, but your dog deserves more than just good intentions. With a professional, you're getting consistent, knowledgeable care you can trust.

Because peace of mind walks hand-in-paw with your dog’s safety.

What separates you as a Professional Pet Sitter?

The term "Pet Sitter" is often used loosely—whether it's a family friend or the neighborhood teen looking after a pet. But true pet sitting is more than a casual favor; it’s a professional career. Dedicated Pet Sitters and Dog Walkers offer a standard of care and reliability that goes above and beyond.

A trusted pet-sitting or dog-walking service should confidently answer "YES" to the following:

·       Do they use a tracking or CRM system to ensure no visit is ever missed?Kingston, Indianola, Poulsbo, Hansville

·       Are client references readily available upon request?

·       Do they provide a clear service agreement or contract?

·       Do they regularly update clients with photos or detailed reports after each visit?Kingston, Indianola, Poulsbo, Hansville

·       Do they provide meet-and-greet sessions to ensure compatibility with pets and their owners?

·       Do they offer flexibility in scheduling for last-minute bookings?

·       Are they certified in Pet First Aid and CPR?

Choose the care your pet deserves—professional, dependable, and prepared for anything. Think of me as your pet's cool uncle—always there with a treat and a belly rub.Kingston, Indianola, Poulsbo, Hansville

What is the importance of mid-day dog walks?

Most veterinarians agree—daily walks are one of the best things you can do for your dog’s overall health and happiness. Mid-day walks, in particular, are a powerful way to support your pup’s physical, mental, and emotional well-being, especially if they’re home alone for long stretches.

Here’s why that mid-day stroll matters:

  • Physical Health: Regular walks help maintain a healthy weight, support joint and muscle function, and can even prevent conditions like obesity and arthritis.

  • Mental Stimulation: Sniffing, exploring, and encountering new sights and sounds keeps your dog’s brain active and engaged, which helps reduce boredom, anxiety, and destructive behaviors like chewing or excessive barking.

  • Socialization: Getting out during the day gives dogs safe exposure to the world—other people, dogs, and changing environments—which builds confidence and calm behavior.

  • Longevity: Simply put, active dogs tend to live longer, healthier lives.

Even short walks make a big difference. They provide a much-needed potty break, support bladder health, and break up the long, lonely hours between morning and evening. For social animals like dogs, that interaction and companionship can be incredibly reassuring.

Whether your pup needs a quick potty break or a longer adventure to burn off energy, a consistent mid-day walk can help them stay relaxed, content, and well-behaved—ready to greet you with a wagging tail when you come home.

Daily Walks vs. Yard Time: Why Your Dog Needs More!

While having a yard is great, it doesn’t give your dog the same benefits as a real walk. Here’s why daily walks are a must for a happy, healthy pup:

  1. Mental Stimulation – Walks introduce your dog to new sights, smells, and sounds that keep their brain sharp and engaged.

  2. Socialization – Regular outings help dogs get comfortable around new people and other animals, which reduces anxiety and builds confidence.

  3. Physical Exercise – Walks provide steady, structured movement that keeps your dog fit—something a yard alone just can’t do.

  4. Bonding Time – Walking together strengthens the bond between you and your pet.

  5. Avoids Boredom – Dogs left in the yard can become bored, lonely, or even destructive. A daily walk adds variety and purpose to their day.

Why Kenneling Isn’t Always the Best Fit for all Dogs

While boarding facilities work for some pets, many dogs struggle in kennel environments—and it’s easy to see why. Kennels can be overwhelming, especially for pets who are sensitive, senior, anxious, or just used to the comforts of home.

Here are some common stressors dogs experience in kennels:

  • Cramped, confined spaces with little room to stretch or play

  • Busy, chaotic environments with rotating staff and stressed-out animals

  • Limited outdoor time—often just 2–3 brief potty breaks a day. Walks are usually extra.

  • Minimal one-on-one attention, which many pets crave

  • Inflexible pick-up times, sometimes requiring an extra night stay

  • Loss of appetite, a common response to stress and unfamiliar settings

For pets who thrive on routine, personal attention, and a quiet environment, in-home care is a much gentler and more comforting option. At Bella’s Pet Care, your dog gets to stay in their own home, stick to their routine, and enjoy the kind of calm, loving care that’s hard to find. Kingston

Dog Training

Q: Do you offer professional dog training?
A: I’m not a certified dog trainer, so I don’t offer formal training services. However, I’m experienced with basic obedience, leash manners, and positive reinforcement techniques—and I’m always happy to help reinforce the training you’re working on at home or with your trainer. Kingston, Indianola, Poulsbo, Hansville

Q: Can you help with my dog’s behavior issues?
A: While I can offer support and consistency, I’m not qualified to diagnose or treat behavioral issues like reactivity, aggression, or severe anxiety. In those cases, I recommend working with a certified trainer or behaviorist. That said, I’m happy to be part of your pup’s care team and follow any strategies your trainer suggests! Kingston, Indianola, Poulsbo, Hansville

Q: Will you practice commands during walks or visits?
A: Absolutely! If your dog is learning commands like sit, stay, leave it, or heel, I’m happy to reinforce those skills during our time together. Just let me know what you’re working on, and I’ll do my best to keep things consistent and fun.

Q: Can you recommend a trainer?
A: I’m not affiliated with any specific trainers, but I’m happy to point you toward some local professionals that clients have had great experiences with. Let me know what you’re looking for—obedience, puppy socialization, reactivity support—and I’ll help you get started. Kingston, Indianola, Poulsbo, Hansville

What does a Pet Sitter do?

Pet sitting is about providing attentive, reliable care for pets in the comfort of their own homes while their owners are away. Whether it’s during vacations, work trips, or unexpected circumstances like long hours, illness, or injury, pet sitters ensure pets are safe, happy, and well-cared for.

Pet sitting covers a variety of tasks, including:

🐾 Feeding and refreshing water to keep pets nourished and hydrated

🐾 Exercise, playtime, and walks for their health and happiness

🐾 Cleaning up pet messes and litter boxes to maintain a clean environment

🐾 Administering medications when needed, with precision and care

🐾 Providing plenty of TLC to ensure pets feel loved and secure

Dog walking is also a form of pet sitting, giving pets the daily exercise and companionship they thrive on—all within the comfort of home. North Kitsap Pet Sitter

What safety precautions do you take to ensure the security of my home?

At Bella’s Pet Care, your home’s security is our top priority. I take several precautions to ensure your property remains safe while you're away. Every time I enter and leave your home, I lock all doors securely and follow any specific security instructions you provide. North Kitsap Pet Sitter

Additionally, I offer crime-deterrent measures to create a lived-in appearance, reducing the risk of break-ins. These measures include:

·       Rotating lights and blinds to mimic daily activity

·       Collecting mail, newspapers, and packages to prevent buildup

·       Moving trash cans to align with collection schedules

·       Setting or adjusting alarm systems according to your instructions

·       Performing other small tasks that contribute to home security Kingston Poulsbo Indianola Hansville

If you have specific security concerns or requests, I am happy to customize our approach during your meet-and-greet. Your peace of mind is important to me, and I am committed to ensuring both your home and pets are safe while you’re away.

Overnight Care (By Approval Only)

I’m excited to offer overnight visits for select clients whose pets have demonstrated comfort and routine with my services. Whether it’s a cozy bedtime tuck‑in, a late‑night cuddle break, or an early‑bird breakfast visit, I’ll create a personalized plan just for you. Kingston Poulsbo Indianola Hansville

To maintain the highest level of care, overnight care is extended on a case‑by‑case basis. Please reach out to discuss your pet’s temperament and past visits so I can determine if this option is the best fit. From there, I’ll map out a reliable schedule that keeps your furry family member content, secure, and right at home.

Are you certified in Pet First Aid?

Yes! The safety of your pet is extremely important to us. I have carefully reviewed the procedures for Pet First Aid from the American Red Cross.  If your pet becomes sick during our care, I will immediately contact you and then your designated veterinarian or the 24-hour animal emergency hospital in North Kitsap. Kingston, Indianola, Hansville Dog Walker

Do you have a cancellation policy?

Yes. To honor the time I dedicate to your pet’s care, I kindly ask for advance notice if you need to cancel.

Here’s how cancellations work:

  • No charge if canceled 24+ hours in advance.

  • Same-day cancellations may be charged up to 100% of the fee, especially if I’m en route or at your home.

  • Holiday bookings require 48 hours’ notice. Cancellations within that window may result in a fee or forfeited deposit (if one was taken).

  • Refunds are not offered, but depending on the situation, a credit may be applied toward future services.

  • To cancel, please text or call me directly as soon as possible.

What do you do if it is too hot or too cold to safely walk? Do you still come for a visit?

Safety is always our top priority. If extreme temperatures make walking unsafe, I will still come by to ensure your pet gets the care they need. Instead of a full walk, we'll opt for a quick potty break in the yard and follow it up with indoor playtime or snuggles to keep them happy and comfortable.

Your pet’s well-being is our focus, no matter the weather.

What if the unforeseen suddenly becomes essential?

Should I need to purchase any necessary supplies, such as food, litter, or cleaning products, during your absence, I will provide a receipt and include the cost in your final invoice.

In the case of an unexpected vet visit, this will be addressed in detail during our consultation meeting, ensuring I am prepared to handle such situations with your consent and guidance.

When is payment due?  What about payment?

For your convenience, I accept all major credit cards. Please note a 3% processing fee applies for card payments. No fee for cash, check, or Zelle.Kingston Poulsbo Indianola Hansville

Service agreement acts as an invoice, with payment due at least [one week/one month] before services start unless otherwise specified. Balances unpaid after 30 days incur a 3% monthly finance charge, and returned checks will be subject to a $30 fee.

A 50% deposit is required for lengthy assignments and with all new clients. Clients with late payment history must pay in advance. Any attorney fees and collection costs related to unpaid balances will be the client’s responsibility.

Are my keys safe? Are you able to keep my keys on file for future travel?

Absolutely. Your keys are handled with the utmost care and stored securely when not in use. Each one is coded without any identifying information—no names or addresses—and kept in a locked, secure location. Kingston

I strongly recommend leaving a key on file with me. It makes scheduling future visits a breeze and removes the stress of last-minute handoffs. Plus, having your key available means I can respond quickly in case of an emergency or unexpected change in plans. Kingston Indianola Hansville Poulsbo

Your pet’s care—and your peace of mind—are always my top priorities.

What if our trip is delayed? How do we know our pet is still cared for?

I request that you text us once you’ve returned home from your trip. This allows me to confirm your safe arrival and that your pet(s) are back in your care.

If I do not hear from you within 24 hours of your expected return time, I will proactively try to contact and or continue visits to ensure the safety and well-being of your pet(s).

Should your trip be delayed for any reason, simply let me know as soon as possible, and I will adjust and schedule additional visits to cover the extra time.

With Bella's Pet Care, you can have peace of mind knowing your pet’s care is always our priority. Your furry family is in good hands!

Do you administer medication to pets?

Yes, and I am happy to provide this service at no extra cost to you. I will carefully review all information with you concerning your pet’s health conditions and/or special needs.

How do you ensure the safety of my pets?

At Bella’s Pet Care, I treat your pets like family—always putting their safety, comfort, and well-being first. With experience in pet handling and a deep love for animals, I provide attentive, responsible care that’s tailored to your pet’s unique needs.

Is Bella's Pet Care licensed?

Yes, Bella's Pet Care is fully licensed to operate across all areas I serve. North Kitsap Pet Sitter

Is it customary to leave a tip, and if so, what amount would be appropriate?

While tips are always appreciated, they are not required. I believe gratuity should reflect the level of service you feel you received, rather than any societal expectation. The amount is entirely at your discretion. North Kitsap Pet Sitter

Do you offer service on nights and weekends?

Absolutely! I’m here for your pets in the evenings and weekends. Nights and weekends visits are offered on a very limited basis and by request—please reach out early to secure your spot. A $10 weekend service fee applies to all visits on Saturdays and Sundays to help me maintain high‑quality, around‑the‑clock care.

What if my dog has never been left alone before or struggles with separation anxiety?

You’re not alone—many pet parents worry about how their dog will handle being home without them, especially for the first time. Some pups experience separation anxiety, which can show up as barking, chewing, accidents, or general distress. While more serious cases might need a vet’s support, most dogs respond beautifully to regular exercise and a little companionship.

At Bella’s Pet Care, I believe in easing into change gently. If your dog hasn’t been left alone before, I’ll schedule a few daytime visits ahead of your trip. This gives your pup a chance to get comfortable with the new routine—and with me—so they feel safe and supported while you’re away.

Every dog is different, and together, we’ll find the rhythm that works best for them (and gives you peace of mind, too).🐾

Have you ever had to turn down a dog?

It’s never easy to say no, but at Bella’s Pet Care, safety and well-being come first—for your pets and for everyone involved. While it’s rare, I may need to turn down a client if a dog shows signs of aggressive behavior, isn’t up to date on vaccinations, or requires specialized behavioral support that goes beyond what we offer.

I also reserve the right to pause or discontinue services if I feel that a pet’s needs or behavior aren’t a good fit for the kind of care I provide. My goal is always to create a safe, positive experience for your pets and peace of mind for you.

If you ever have questions or concerns about whether your pet is a good fit, just reach out—I am more than happy to talk things through. 🐶💛

How much notice do you need?

For new clients, I kindly ask for at least one week’s notice to schedule your free initial consultation. This gives me time to get to know you and your pet, learn their routine, and ensure everyone feels comfortable before services begin. Consultations typically last 30–45 minutes.

During holidays and peak vacation times, please plan ahead and allow at least three weeks' notice, as my calendar fills up quickly. Kingston Dog Walker

If it’s been more than six months since I last cared for your pet, I'll schedule a $30 reintroduction visit to reconnect and make sure your pet is still feeling safe and at ease with me.

Can’t find the answer you’re looking for? Shoot me a message or give me a call, text or email—I’m always happy to chat about schedules, special needs, or just share cute dog and kitty photos. Welcome to the Bella’s Pet Care family!
